Class 1: Photosynthesis
Where do you get your energy from?

Your energy comes from the food you eat. Energy is passed from one organism to another along the food chain.
Every food chain begins with an autotroph organism. They take energy from light, and transfer some of the energy into the food that they make. When we eat food we get some of that energy.
In this unit, we will look at how plants use energy from light to make food.

Let's start by watching this video about the photosynthesis equation:

Then we will answer some questions that will help us understand more about this process:

1) Use ecosia or any other search engine to find the etymology of the words "photosynthesis" and "autotroph"

2) Draw and explain the process of photosynthesis:

3) Write the word and chemical equations of this process

4) One of the results of the photosynthesis
process is the production of biomass,
what is meant by biomass?

5) Besides plants, what other living things perform photosynthesis? Draw them and write their names

In most plants, the leaves are the organs that carry out photosynthesis.

The goal of today's class is to learn more about the structure of leaves that allows them to perform this critical process.

Let's start with some questions to check what do you know about the topic:
